Removing Cellulite
What is cellulite? Cellulite is not a mysterious substance; it is just plain fat tissue. The reason why cellulite looks different than fat on other types of the body is because the fat cells in your body or commonly called adipose tissue expands, while your normal skin (connective tissue) stays the same causing the dimpling or cottage cheese affect.
There are many remedies to rid women of their cellulite issues. Most common are lotions, electrical stimulation and an assortment of herbal supplements. And many of these products have their loyal following, but for most people exercise is highly recommended.
Because cellulite is normal fat tissue, if you lose fat, theoretically you should also lose cellulite. However many women do have a problem of focusing their fat loss to this one area, whether the reason is genetics or other factors. Most weight trainers recommend an exercise program focusing on the toning the butt area. Unfortunately, this requires regular exercise which many people don't have time to do. So if you want to get rid of cellulite, experiment with cellulite product or talk to a weight trainer at your local gym.

9 Quick Ways To Conquer Cellulite
"Fountain of Youth," nothing strikes a chord like the
term "cellulite." Interestingly, the term "cellulite"
was first introduced to us by a fashion magazine.
That fact is sufficient to generate speculation among
opposing sides to this controversial subject.
Cellulite is a term that is used to describe fat deposits
under the skin that outwardly give the skin a dimpled,
or orange-peel like appearance. Cellulite is most often
seen in women because the fat is arranged in large
chambers separated by columns of collagen fibers.
There really is no substitute for good, old-fashioned,
healthy nutrition and exercise. The tried and true
methods do work:
1.Watch your diet.
2.Incorporate fresh and natural foods into your diet.
3.Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
4.Limit the consumption of caffeine and alcohol.
5.Avoid high fat foods.
6.Get plenty of fiber.
7.Quit or cut down on smoking.
8.Avoid medications not necessary to health and well being.
9.Get plenty of exercise.
Following a regimen of good health, nutrition and exercise
will rid your body of excess toxins and promote a general
state of health that is optimum for pursuing any program
for dealing with cellulite.
Lastly, think twice or three times before investing huge
amounts of cash for so-called treatments or cures.
You are now armed with the most important tool you need
on your journey to Conquering Cellulite.
That tool is knowledge! Use it wisely!

Treating Cellulite Treatments That Work
Ninety percent of women have it. While hormones and age do play a role in the developing cellulite, they are not completely limiting factors. Cellulite can be reduced at any age.
Treatments
1. The first and most important thing you can do for cellulite reduction is exercise. Exercise may be broken down into Cardiovascular Exercise and Muscular Strength and Conditioning Exercise.
- Cardiovascular Exercise will help you to burn calories and lose some of the fat that is caught between the bands of connective tissue. In order for cardiovascular exercise to be effective, you must manage to fit in at least 30 minutes 3 times per week. This 30 minute interval may be broken down into three 10 minute segments, two 15 minute segments or one 30 minute segment. Keep in mind that your metabolism stays elevated for a few hours after you do your cardiovascular exercise, so you continue to burn more calories even after you are finished. Cardiovascular exercise also helps to increase circulation which is crucial to reducing the appearance of cellulite.
- Muscular strength and conditioning exercises will increase muscle tone in the cellulite prone areas and result in a smoother more attractive appearance. Picture a freshly filled balloon. It is full of air and therefore very smooth. Now consider the skin covering your cellulite prone areas like the balloon. If you have lots of nice muscle tissue underneath, it will press up on the fat that is underneath and make it appear smoother. If you're a women, do not fear becoming too muscular from strength training.
2. The next treatment for cellulite reduction is diet. It's crucial to reduce or eliminate white sugar and white flour. This does not meant to cut out carbohydrates. It simply means to look for whole grain products instead of ones that are made from white sugar. Try to include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet everyday. Whole fruits and vegetables contain fiber which is very important in regulating your digestive system. Try to drink lots of water as opposed to drinking fruit juices and soft drinks.
3. There are many types of treatments that help to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Some of these treatments are done in medical spas or are performed by dermatologists. The availability of these treatments varies by location. A list of cellulite treatments includes Endermologie, massage, body wraps and Velasmooth. Velasmooth is the first cellulite treatment to be approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration in the United States). There are home devices that claim to reduce cellulite that vary in cost and effectiveness. Many cosmetic companies offer topical treatments that may also reduce the appearance of cellulite. Be sure to check the ingredients for substances that may result in an allergic reaction due to user sensitivity.

What Causes Cellulite And How To Prevent It
During the onset of puberty the body begins to produce hormones, including female ones that are responsible for formation of adipose tissue and may damage circulation and drainage in the tissues under the skin.
However, abnormal changes in tissues can be avoided if hormonal disorders are taken care of on the early stages. The young bodies can defend themselves better; and such disorders in teens are caused mostly by changes in metabolic process and thus are of temporary nature.
A number of factors can cause cellulite, however, the main causes are hereditary factors and unhealthy lifestyle. Hereditary factor cannot be denied since there are too many examples of this abound. What is more, however paradoxical it may seem, family upbringing plays a significant role in why we live an unhealthy lifestyle. The expression unhealthy lifestyle has an extensive meaning and includes a number of factors characteristic of human beings. In this connection the Oriental wisdom should be mentioned: in Orientalism the harmony and ways to achieve it were explored for years. The life is conceived by Oriental people as the unity of light yang and dark yin. There is no telling that yang is good and should exist, while yin is bad and should be got rid of. Such approach is typical of a Westerner accustomed to oppose good to evil. A Chinese or Japanese, however, sees no conflict here, and accepts the world as is, with any seeming contradictions.
In fact, who can say for sure what is better and what is worse: warmth or cold, day or night, man or woman? These are indivisible and interconnected components of our world that form the world order - Dao. And a human's aim is to cognize Dao, and achieve harmony by adjusting the life to the naturalness of the world. It surely requires many efforts, and we have to rid ourselves step by step of vileness in us.
If we consider this desire from the point of view of our flesh, we may come to many questions. And the first of them is what the right and healthy diet is?

Weight Loss - Removing Cellulite
Cellulite Do We Have To Lump It
These are the facts about cellulite from one who knows:
1. It appears to affect only women.
2. It mainly colonises the thigh area.
3. Once it gains a foothold, it will spread across the whole of the upper thighs and possibly onto the buttocks.
4. Exercises which target this area may possibly improve muscle tone, but will not have any effect on cellulite.
5. Losing weight may reduce the amount of fat in the area, but the cellulite will still be there.
6. It is fat, but it is not just fat. It is lumpy, porridge-like fat.
Is there any hope? Is it possible to reduce or even eliminate cellulite? Can we avoid getting it in the first place?
To answer these questions, we need to know what causes cellulite in the first place. Many people who have studied this question believe that it is caused by a build up of toxins in the body which the lymphatic system is unable to deal with effectively. It is possible that we could either prevent or treat it by consuming less of those foods which tend to cause this build-up of toxins. In other words we need to consume mostly unprocessed, preferably organic, foods, including plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. In order to help the elimination of toxins, we should also be drinking the recommended two litres of water per day.
Another remedy which many beauty specialists recommend is body brushing. Using a specially designed brush, you dry brush the skin in the affected area, before showering. This practice is also intended to help with the elimination of toxins, by improving blood circulation.
Finally, there are many products which have recently appeared on the market, designed to improve the appearance of cellulite-affected areas by their application onto the skin. They claim to penetrate the skin and draw out impurities, bringing about visual and measurable improvement in the thigh area. Though some of the claims made may be exaggerated, many women who have tried these products have noticed some improvement.
Do we have to lump it? I think it depends on how advanced the problem is and on how much time, money and effort you are prepared to devote to it.

The Hated Cellulite Cure That Works
Mitchel Goldman, MD, an associate clinical professor at the University of California at San Diego regularly informs the dermatological community about cellulite treatments. On one such occasion in 2002, at American Academy of Dermatology's summer scientific meeting in New York, Dr. Goldman offered bleak hope for women with fat dimples while asserting that there is no "cure" for cellulite.
Perhaps Dr. Goldman has never visited a women's figure competition, Gold's Gym or any placed packed with women who know how to take care of their bodies. If he did frequent such places, Dr. Goldman would find that there is indeed a three-step remedy for cellulite which follows:
1.Eat a macronutrient rich diet that maintains your ideal body weight;
2.Exercise at least 60 minutes daily to promote circulation and increase the skin's elasticity and tone; and
3.Do resistance training to increase muscle size, boost fat metabolism, and increase structural support for the skin's fat layer.
I assure you that women who pose as models for cellulite creams and services already do these things.
Notwithstanding, Dr. Goldman rests convinced that "Foods really do not have an impact on whether a woman has cellulite or not." He further doubts dietary interventions by stating, "Even a woman who radically changes her diet from high fat foods to low fat foods would still have cellulite. Consumers should be wary of any diet plan that claims to reduce the appearance of cellulite -- it is simply not credible."
So how do women in the advertisements for cellulite creams get rid of their cellulite? Not by using a cream, of course. One may answer that Adobe Photoshop editing cleverly erases the smiling fat dimples. That's not always the case. Women can and do shrink their cellulite bubbles using a sensible diet and exercise program.
1.Eating to eliminate cellulite
Enjoy five to six meals/snacks a day. Frequent eating keeps the blood sugar level balanced so that your body does not resort to fat storage. This predictable food intake also keeps the metabolism burning calories at a consistent rate.
2. Strategic exercising for cellulite elimination
A study issued by the National Academies' Institute of Medicine in 2002 recommends an hour of cumulative exercise each day to maintain a healthy weight. Cellulite is an aesthetic issue and not a grave health threat. So while climbing the stairs here, and washing the car there, may help your heart, it does nothing for cellulite.
If you want to get rid of cellulite, you need to exercise for at least 45 to 60 minutes consistently to reap the fat burning benefits. Yet, you need not exhaust yourself.
Make your body tingle with energy
Just try walking briskly at a rate fast enough to make your thighs and rear-end tingle. That way, you know you are stimulating the fat while simultaneously massaging the skin. Moreover, you are raising your external body temperature. You can spend $100s of dollars at a spa trying to get the same effect in some body wrap or massage machine. Spare yourself the hassle and get real results from the gym or on the trail.
3.Make the most of weight training
The most ridiculous fear that arises from women when I suggest weight training is the unfounded cry, "But I don't want to get bulky and muscular!" Please. Too many women in the gym today are hardly in any danger of developing muscle simply because they are not properly training or eating to gain muscle.
The only way to get "bulky" with muscle is to consistently train for years lifting heavy weights and eating a generally bland diet that's rich in protein. With that, it's critical to make the most of your muscle training minutes in the gym. Granted the variety of weight lifting techniques remains endless, here's some basic steps for increasing your muscle mass:
Eat before lifting
Eat at least 45 minutes before lifting weights. While, your stomach should not fill bloated with food, having some nutrients in your stomach will ensure that you have enough energy to actually lift the weight and perform enough repetitions to promote muscle growth.
Lift enough weight to feel your muscle burn after 8-10 repetitions.
The whole point of lifting weights is to tear down the muscle you have so that it will repair itself and grow back stronger and more plentiful. If you are not burning, it's likely that you are not breaking down muscle.
Refuel your muscles with protein and carbohydrates immediately after lifting weights.
The Cure For Cellulite Problem
Many people wonder what cellulite is exactly and it's nothing more than fat. Women and even some men have been praying for a miracle cure for cellulite for years, but nothing has come about. Though it may be unsightly, it's perfectly normal and many people have it.
But, if you're very worried about the cellulite you do have, the key to having firm legs is exercising. Though it probably won't erase all signs of cellulite from your body, exercise will tone you up and help to smooth out some of those hated bumps and lumps. Varying your exercise routine can help as well. Do cardio for at least 40 minutes a day and alternate in some weight lifting on different days. Lunges work well for thighs and buttocks if those are your problem areas.
Also, you've probably thought once or twice about buying one of those cellulite reducing creams you've seen in grocery stores but weren't sure if they actually worked, right? Well, the jury is still out on that one but some creams do have proven firming ingredients in them. So, if you have the money and want to try them, why not?
Spas offer treatments for cellulite as well. Some have massages that are supposed to rub your problem areas away while others have more advanced treatments to help tone and firm. These can often be pricey though they sometimes come with a money back guarantee. So, if you're really bothered by cellulite, there are options for you. Don't hide behind your clothes any longer and keep trying different things until you find the one that works for you!

Some Facts That You Should Know About Cellulite
Mistake Nr 1. Try to eliminate unnecessary liquid by using diuretic and depletive remedies and teas.
Initially liquid will "flow", but after that successfully begin to accumulate. In that time organism will not be able to banish liquid out, so without remedies you will begin to swell out and your cellulite will increase.
Unnecessary liquid will be eliminated from organism by using green tea, soda-free water, fruits and vegetables, flakes.
Mistake Nr. 2. Salt-free diet
The liquid "flows out", but unnecessary fat is still at his place. Salt is not the reason of cellulite, but its excess is. 5-10 g per day is normal and you don't have to refuse salt consumption, but refuse smoke-dried and canned products - they are full of salt!
What you can not do
Anti-cellulite diet is one of the most dangerous low-calorie types of diet. The result depends on your usual ration. Firstly, drop from the plate everything that is not necessary. We've already spoke about salt - 5-10 g per day is enough. This amount has a salt fish.
Sausages, pate, smoked and salted foodstuff - all these products have wonderful taste, but also big amount of salt and fat. So, we have to choose: sausages, ham + cellulite or natural meat, fish, milk products and no cellulite.
What you have to do
As you know there are plenty of methods that are believed to bring desirable result - reduce cellulite easy and fast. We have already spoken about some mistakes, which many women make and decided what we'll eat and drink. Now it's time to take a look on brand-new cellulite reduction method - vacuum massage with rubber glass.
Rubber glass is a massager which is used for vacuum massage . The medical effect of the rubber glass procedure is realized by means of the vacuum, which causes the local rush of blood and lymph to skin from deep lying tissues, which exerts the reflex influence on vessels of internal organs. In simple phrase, this massage will gradually smooth hypodermic fat layer and will help to get rid of cellulite.
Why do you have to try it?
All we know how expensive could be many cellulite reduction methods. What will you choose - to spend a great amount of money and expect good results or to spend considerably less money and get the same (or maybe better) result? Vacuum therapy with rubber glass offers you inexpensive, painless cellulite treatment that is recommended by professional masseuses. It's very easy to use (you don't need a professional help) and needs only 8 minutes per day.
If we can fight with cellulite easy and inexpensively, why do we have to waste our money for expensive and sometimes ineffective methods?! Follow these recommendations and soon you'll be so proud of your new looking!

Cellulite Lotion
Q. What Is Cellulite?
A. In the medical community, cellulite is known as localized lipodystrophy which actually pertains to the misshapen fat in one or several specific areas of one's body. However, recent scientific research has shown that cellulite is in fact has less to do with the fat cells and actually more to do with connective tissue that shapes the fat in our bodies as well as keeps it in place. Most people often refer to cellulite as the fatty deposits that takes the form of uneven, wrinkled and dimply skin which can be found on either the thighs, hips and buttocks of most older women.
Q. Cellulite Only Affects Old People, Right?
A. Unfortunately, cellulite can actually be acquired by younger generations of women given that they have unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle choices that make them fat and prone to getting cellulite even at such a young age. Even when people lose weight and become slimmer in some body areas, their cellulite remains and will actually be the last stubborn fat on your body - it just won't go away. It's not impossible, but it is quite a challenge because acquiring cellulite actually occurs when the damaged fatty tissue accumulates.
Q. How To Get Rid Of Cellulite?
A. Exercise can be done to get rid of cellulite. If you are the impatient kind, cellulite lotions can fast track the cellulite reducing process. It is important to note, however, that you still have to be patient in order to see the effects from a cellulite lotion.
Q. Does Cellulite Only Affect Fat People?
A. The truth about cellulite is that you don't actually have to be fat to acquire it - even Paris Hilton who has long been viewed as a perfect anorexic specimen has these unsightly body marks. Cellulite is basically just the trapped fat that our body can't just simply burn off which is why we need all the extra help that we can get especially from cellulite lotions.
1. Cellulite Lotion
The miracle that has been brought by cellulite lotions have caused much relief and joy to the whole people population and they are just seeking better and more efficient cellulite lotions that even though may tend to be a bit costly, will be well worth their money spent. One of the most popular cellulite lotions in the market nowadays is the Vitamoor Contour cellulite cream which promises to be well worth your hard earned cash as well as gives you the smooth and even cellulite-free skin that you have always wanted to have.
Vitamoor Contour cellulite lotion that is being advertised on the internet through its cellulite clinic's online website. Not only does the Vitamoor Contour cellulite lotion aims to metabolize or burn the fat in you body that causes you to have cellulite, this cellulite lotion also promises to be able to stimulate the restoration of the fat circulation in your skin and body.
2. Topical Creams
Topical creams such as the Vitamoor Contour cellulite lotion is far more safe to use as compared to the artificial drugs which tend to lay all sorts of claims when it comes to helping you out with your cellulite problem as the worse side-effect that you may get from cellulite lotions may actually just be as simple as developing a rash as an allergic reaction to a cellulite lotion's ingredient.
This cellulite lotion actually consists of all natural ingredients from Austrian Moor, Wild Yam and other various plant extracts. These actually help to metabolize the fat that is trapped in your body while you work out in the gym or while you're walking around and just going through your day-to-day activities. The ingredients of this cellulite lotion helps your body to heal the damaged tissues that are caused by the trapped fat. Austrian Moor is a unique substance that is especially preserved in the Alps during the last ice age and has been used by the ancient Romans for its various healing properties. It improves circulation, detoxifies as well as nourishes one's skin. People all over Europe, as well as the North America, have been using the Austrian Moor ingredient in spas and clinics for treating stubborn cellulite as well as many other physical disorders for many, many years.
Cellulite Treatment Methods
There isn't really any such cure, but there are ways to help alleviate some of the problem. With new technology and extensive research, new products and procedures are available today that can help to reduce cellulite's appearance, improve the tone of your skin, and also possibly help you shed an inch or two.
The first cellulite treatment available is called advanced keymodule endermologie. Considered to be an anti-cellulite treatment, AKE will supposedly help to smooth your skin while giving you a slimmer figure.
During this cellulite treatment you will be given special, stretchy, cotton clothing to wear. After you put it on, cylindrical rollers will then be placed on your skin and gently rolled over your body. It isn't considered to be a painful treatment, in fact, it has been said that the suction effect actually feels like a wonderful massage.
AKE's idea is that the process helps to restructure your skin's connective tissues, while stimulating your blood and lymph circulation and helping to eliminate any toxins. It is also said to trigger your body's regular process for eliminating excess fat to help tone, firm, and smooth your skin.
The process is inexpensive and monthly sessions are usually suggested in order to maintain any results.
The next cellulite treatment is called vacunaut, or vacuum therapy. This process, developed by a sports scientist in Austria, supposedly promises to rid you of the excess fat around your stomach known as a spare tire. It also claims to be the only process found in the world that is able to achieve very effective, and just about effortless, abdominal workout.
During this treatment you will have to wear a suit specially designed for the procedure, while walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes. The machine is controlled by computerized pumps that change internal pressure, forcing your blood directly to the fatty tissue surrounding your stomach.
The blood will absorb the fat that surround your stomach, using it to help power your muscles. In addition, this fat-enriched blood will be steadily moved over and over again to your working muscles.
The downfall to this procedure is that anyone with medical conditions such as those that are related to the heart, circulatory, or metabolic, are not able to use this machine. Also, it takes several months to see an improvement, and it works best when used together with a healthy diet.
The last of the cellulite treatments is the ionithermic body treatment. This process claims to be perfect for any person who has successfully lost weight, but still help toning and firming.
During this treatment, you will receive a body scrub as well as a pressure point massage. Any area that needs to be treated will be covered with thermal clay, as well as essential oils and pads, that emit a rhythmic electrical pulse.
IBT will work the areas by using a gentle action the combines faradic and galvanic stimuli, while also using the thermal clay and natural ingredients that are biologically active.
This treatment claims to promote the loss of inches, fat reduction, and also firming and toning your body.

Mesotherapy Vs Cellulite For A Knockout
Gweneth Lowe is the mother of two children. She has been in the ring with fat for about five years. She works out in a gym three times a week for an hour. Still, she could not get rid of the fat in her problem area. Her thighs. 10 sessions with mesotherapy has given her the relief she?s been working out for. Lowe says, ?I?ve lost about three inches from my hips. My thighs have shrunk. I?m down to a dress size 6 and loving it!?
Lowe gained her weight and cellulite after having babies. However, doctors believe cellulite and small fatty deposits affects more than 90% of post-puberty women. Wow, I bet you can?t believe it affects so many people! We don?t have any accurate data on the number of men who suffer from it. Men just don?t complain about it as much as women. Cellulite and small fatty deposits are seen as a ?ladies problem.? You can find the extra fat most commonly on the butt, hips, and legs. Overweight people are not the only ones affected by it. Skinny people can have cellulite and small fatty deposits as well.
You?ll definitely know cellulite when you see it. It gives the surface of the skin a lumpy often-dimpled affect. Cellulite forms due to water retention in fat cells. The fat cells are surrounded by tissue. The tissue hardens forming a sclerosis. The result is the cottage cheese appearance on the outward layer of the skin. And fatty deposits form because of genetics. It?s not your fault you have them. Mesotherapy helps to get rid of the fat to sculpt your body where it?s needed.
More and more physicians are putting their money on mesotherapy as a viable means to fight cellulite and excess fat. Mesotherapy has been used in France for years. Dr. Michel Pistor invented it in 1952. However, the treatments popularity is just now coming to the forefront as a safe and effective cosmetic treatment. And it is used in dozens of countries by thousands of trained practitioners.
You may be wondering exactly how does mesotherapy work? It?s quite easy. Let?s look at the procedure.
The treatment sessions take only a few minutes. However, you may need several injections over the course of several weeks. Fortunately, the needle that is used is tiny. Doctors? estimate that four to ten sessions is enough to block your ability to store fat and stimulates your ability to burn it up. The drugs are injected into the middle layer of the skin called the mesoderm. That?s where mesotherapy gets its name.
The drugs work together to break down fat faster than any other method. A licensed practitioner puts medication and vitamins into the middle layer of the skin using microinjections. The medicine helps to reshape the body. A single mesotherapy session can cost as much as $500 because of the amount of drugs that are used. The treatment uses drugs that are commonly used for asthma and high blood pressure.
Vitamins and supplements are also used to knock out the fat. Two drugs in particular are already approved by the FDA for use in other procedures. One of the medications is an asthma drug called aminophylline. A cardiac drug called Isopreteranol is also used on a widespread basis. Here?s two other commonly used medications that are injected into your system. They?re called phosphatidylcholine and sodium deoxycholate..
As I mentioned, you may have to go through at least three to five sessions before you see any results. The number of treatments depends on several factors including, the severity of the condition and the cause of the problem. Mesotherapy helps to improve the body in many ways. It improves blood flow to the area that?s being treated. It dissolves excess fat deposits, removes hardened tissue and improves lymphatic drainage.
Now that you know how mesotherapy works, you?re probably wondering how safe is it? It?s safe according to the doctors and researchers who have trained in it. However some doctors are concerned about the concoction of drugs that are used together to eat away at the cellulite and small fatty deposits. Some say that the Food and Drug Administration should approve all the drugs that are used for use together. So far, they are approved for use apart. And a medical doctor is licensed to use medications as he/she sees fit.
A second concern is what happens to the fatty acids if they are not burned off? Where are they going? The ideal situation is for the fatty acids to burn off. However, a problem could arise if the fatty acids go directly into other tissue. This could lead to damage in the other tissue increasing the risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Fortunately, none of these concerns have materialized despite hundreds of millions of treatments done around the globe. No wonder- for people like Gweneth Lowe the benefits far outweigh the concerns. She says, ?I?m just happy to get rid of the excess fat. I eat right. I see my doctor on a regular basis for checkups. I?m happy with the results.? You could be too! The Truth About Cellulite How To Treat It
Have you been cursed with those lumpy, cottage cheese like areas of fat on your thighs, hips, buttocks, and other parts of your body? There's a good chance; 85% of women are already afflicted with these same cellulite woes. The term "cellulite" is not a common term around the medical community - it was actually first created in European spas. Then, in the early 1970's a man by the name of Nicole Ronsard published the book Cellulite: Those Lumps, Bumps, and Bulges You Couldn't Lose Before. The term "cellulite" then spread throughout America.
If you're like most women, you are probably wondering what causes cellulite and how you can get rid of it. Well, there are several factors that contribute to the cause of cellulite. Some of these factors are age, genetics, your body fat percentage, your level of hydration, and possibly whether or not you smoke or ingest caffeine.
One of the most prominent and widely accepted causes of cellulite has to due with how the skin is constructed and how the fat around it is situated. In the skin, there are tough strands of fibrous tissue that connect the skin to the rest of the body called the "septa". The septa anchors at certain points - similar to a net. This net of fibrous - the septa - tissue exists above the layer of fat in your body. However, sometimes fat makes its way through the holes in this net of fibrous tissue and therefore plumps the fat outward. This plumping of fat causes the "cottage cheese" resemblance of cellulite. Many times, even if a woman has a very low body fat percentage, if the skin around that area is pinched, then some cellulite can still remain visible; however, most women probably only care about cellulite when it is only visible without pinching.
Other reasons/theories exist as to the cause of cellulite, but the actual cause is probably a combination of more than one thing. Carole Walderman, aesthetician and president of Von Lee International School of Aesthetics, in Baltimore, states, "Cellulite is a combination of fat globules, waste matter, and water imprisoned in connective tissue." Another theory is that the makeup of the strands of fibrous tissue in men and women are different - for instance, a man's net of fibrous tissue forms a net that is perpendicular, where as a woman's net of fibrous tissue is formed by X's. Also, the fibrous tissue may be tighter in women, which would cause a much more pronounced plumping effect in women in comparison to men.
Treatments for Cellulite
Just Lose the Fat
Since an excessive body fat percentage is probably the most prominent reason for the cause of cellulite, the best, most permanent, and most effective course of action is to simply lose fat. Obviously, there are many options in this area due to the fact that there are hundreds of diet programs, pills, supplements, etc. A very effective program can be found by clicking this link about weight loss.
Mechanical Massage
Another popular, and somewhat pricey, treatment for cellulite is called endermology, or mechanical massage. In this treatment, layers of cellulite are rolled between rollers and sucked on with a vacuum with low pressures to "stretch" the septa. The appearance of cellulite is supposed to become smoother - similar to if you were to roll cottage cheese between two rollers. Obviously, the cottage cheese would no longer be as lumpy. There are many studies going on to determine the effectiveness of these treatments, but their effectiveness remains questioned.
Water
This is a simple treatment. Drink more water. Carole Walderman, mentioned above in this article, states, "I have found that a lot of people who have cellulite don't drink enough water." Even if water doesn't reduce your appearance of cellulite, it does too many other important things to be passed up anyway.
Topical Treatments
In the world of health and fitness, there are many marketers trying to take advantage of consumers who are ready to spend anything to treat their problems. Many times, products like these will make vague claims like "improve circulation", "reduce the appear of cellulite", or "stimulate the release of fat". These claims sound scientific to the unknowledgeable consumer; I mean, what is bad about improving circulation? 90% of the time these marketers will exaggerate claims from poorly designed studies, claim that a certain ingredient does something special, but rarely to what degree they accomplish it. Another common generalization of these products is to "stimulate the release of fat". There may be one or two studies that verify this, but even if these products accomplish this, the effect of them is extremely minimal compared to what intelligent dieting and exercise can do.
Then again, there is a possibility that some of the ingredients in topical creams may benefit in reducing cellulite. However, many times there are several ingredients mixed into one cream. This makes it extremely hard to find out which ingredient is actually producing results. If you decide to go this route (please incorporate diet and exercise too), then ask your dermatologist before purchasing anything.
Nicotine and Caffeine
Another theory that holds investigation is the use of caffeine and nicotine. You can help aid in your fight against cellulite by halting the use of these, since they constrict blood vessels. This theory may need more investigation.
All in all, cellulite is a tough foe. There are several treatments for it; many of them are a waste of money or have a very minimal effect. The most effective way to reduce cellulite is to treat it at the root of its cause - where fat makes it way through the net of fibrous tissue that makes up your skin to cause several small pits or domes. The best way to accomplish this is through intelligent dieting and exercise.
